Yoruba Ko’ya came into fruition in April 2018 as amalgamation of thoughts and opinions developed as a wake-up call against the oppressive activities of herdsmen ravaging the nooks and crannies of Yoruba Land thereby eroding the right to security of lives and properties and peaceful co-existence of her residents. Yoruba Ko’Ya has undergone the following advocacies in defense of Yoruba people:

  1. Erection of Billboards in all Boundary Towns in Yoruba Land with the inscription: Ile Yoruba Ni Yi/This Is Yoruba Land, Yoruba Demand for Restructuring Now. 46 bill boards erected across Yoruba Land with the above description. Some of the bill board in smaller size are erected in the following locations:

EKITI: Otun, Omuo, Emure, Ikere and EfonAlaaye.

ONDO: Owena, OkeAgbe-Akoko, Isua-Akoko, Ore, Iju-Itaogbolu and Oke-Igbo.

OSUN: IlaOrangun, Ikire, IwarajaIjesha, Ijebu-Ijesha, Ikirun and Iwo.

LAGOS: Ikorodu, Ojodu-Berger, Ijaiye, Badagry and Epe.

OYO: Kishi, Saki, Eyenkorin, Ogbomoso, Ibadan after toll-gate.

OGUN: Ijebu-ode, Idiroko-Ota, Imeko Afon, Ogere and Abeokuta. – April 2018

  1. In a bid to sensitize people in South-West, Yoruba Koya’ held a peaceful protest aimed at telling the Yoruba race to demand for the restructuring of Nigeria’s political, economic and social structures for real development. The protest held simultaneously across all South-West States. – April 13th 2018
  2. SIT OUT FOR RESTRCUTURING CRUSADE: It was held simultaneously for five days consecutively at the premises of the Houses of Assembly in the six South West States of Nigeria aimed at calling on the parliamentarians to unanimously speak in one voice in support of restructuring and a return of Nigeria to regionalism – April 2018.
  3. The Yoruba KO’YA held a no-holds-barred conference on Food security in Atiba Hall, Oyo-Alaafin, Oyo state where various self-determination groups such as hunters, vigilantes groups, farmers, market men and women, artisans, youth groups etc. were invited to examine the causes of Herdsmen vs Farmers crisis in Yoruba Land; Evaluate the capacity of local security forces like Vigilante, Hunters etc in Yoruba Land to checkmate the menace of Fulani Herdsmen in the area; plan for solutions to security challenges confronting the farmers in Yoruba Land; ascertain the level of awareness of Yoruba people on issues relating to food security in the zone and evaluate the effect of Fulani herdsmen and farmers crisis on food availability and security in south west regions. The event was chaired by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III. – May 2nd 2018.
  4. The leadership of Yoruba KO’YA held a meeting with some selected traditional rulers, vigilantes, hunters and farmers at a Guest House in Otu, Igbeti, Oke-Ogun, Oyo State to brainstorm and get firsthand information on how to checkmate the herdsmen terrorizing the Oke Ogun part of Oyo-State. The farmers, who analytically tabled how their farms and source of live-hood are being destroyed everyday by herdsmen with security agencies looking unconcerned, called on Yoruba KO’YA to save their soul. The meeting was attended by three first class traditional rulers.
  5. A location, situated at Adebayo along Iworoko road, Ado-Ekiti, the capital city of Ekiti State, South West, Nigeria was for over five hours shut down on June 18th 2020 by other advocacy groups such as Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Hunters, Harmonized Surveillance Guard (HSG), Farmers, Market Men and Women, Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Nigerian Artisan Technician Association (NATA) and several others at a no-holds-barred session organized by Yoruba Ko’ya to discuss the ways out of the multiple cases of kidnappings, destruction of farms lands by Herdsmen and other security vices plaguing the state. Diginatries at the event were the then Governor of the State, Ayo Fayose, Founder, Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola, Elder Statesman and Secretary General, Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), Dr. Kunle Olajide, the Iyajoja General of Ekiti State, Chief (Mrs) Waye Oso and several others unanimously. Yoruba Koya donated security gadgets such as Head Lamp, Torch Light, Raincoat, Hand Glove, Boots, Helmet, Whistle etc to the members of Hunters and Vigilante Associations in the State at the June 2018 event.
  6. Prominent Yoruba Leaders and Advocacy groups led by Yoruba Ko’ya on Wednesday July 4th 2018 sent a caution alert to all Governors and opinion leaders in South Western, Nigeria to put in place machineries to defend all lands, farmers, private and public property in Yoruba Land from being invaded and captured by external forces. The leaders and groups who spoke at a no-holds barred parley organized by Yoruba Koya with members of Vigilante, Hunters, Farmers, Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Market men and Women etc in Ilaro, Ogun State to examine the effects of the menace of herdsmen on food security and safety of lives and property; causes of herdsmen and farmers crisis; management options of Fulani Herdsmen versus Farmers’ crisis as it affects food security in Ogun State said Yoruba land as things currently stands has been encircled. The event was attended by second republic member of the senate, Professor Banji Akintoye and other well-meaning Yoruba leaders. Security gadgets such as Head Lamp, Torch Light, Raincoat, Hand Gloves, Boots, Helmet, Whistle etc were donated to the members of Hunters and Vigilante Associations in the State by Yoruba Ko’Ya.
  7. Prominent Yoruba leaders including various advocacy groups on Wednesday August 15th 2018 spoke loudly to those who care to listen that there’s danger ahead, if adequate care is not taken to address the threat being posed by the alarming rate of Migrant Incursion into Lagos and by extension, Yoruba land including Kogi, Kwara, Edo and Delta State. “Your Land has been encircled by external forces”, they said in unison at a security roundtable powered by Yoruba Koya held at Oranmiyan Hall, Airport Hotel, Ikeja. The roundtable, chaired by the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Aare Gani Adams with the theme: Protecting Yoruba Land: Migrant Incursion and Threat to Peace and Security of Lagos State, was attended by the Governor of Lagos State; Mr. Akinwumi Ambode with representatives from various groups and informal security sectors such as Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Hunters, Traditional Council, Religion Leaders, ACOMORAN, NURTW, Religion Leaders etc in attendance. In a statement jointly signed by some eminent personalities present at the event such as Afenifere Leader and Elders Statesmen, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, represented by a renowned Emeritus Professor, Kolawole Ogundowole, Aare Gani Adams, represented by the National Publicity Secretary of OPC, Barrister Yinka Ogunmodimu, Second Republic Senator and Emeritus Professor of History, Professor Banji Akintoye, Chief Imam of Yoruba Land, Sheik Abudulahhi Aduramigba, Convener Yoruba ko’Ya and many others, stated that the current attacks being witnessed in Nigeria is part of the expansionist agenda of some vested Oligarchy to capture all land of Nigeria.
  8. The agitation for the restructuring of Nigeria’s political, economic and social structures further reverberated on October 1st 2018, the country’s Independence day in Lagos as numerous prominent Yoruba Leaders and other advocacy groups converged at Faweyinmi Freedom Park, Ojota to unveil a position paper designed to be presented at all the State Houses of Assembly in South West geo-political zone for deliberation. The event tagged: “Crusade for Restructuring” was organized by Yoruba Ko’ya with the aim of ensuring that Yoruba land speaks with one voice on the litigious agitation for restructuring. The event was attended by leaders of Yoruba, South-South and South East including Col. Tony Nyam and members of Voice of Reason (VOR).
  9. Yoruba Ko’ya led a team of prominent Yoruba leaders including Dr. Amos Akingba, Akogun Tola Adeniyi, on Tuesday 18th December 2018 in Lagos to pay a visit to the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa to seek for his support for the restructuring of Nigeria. Obasa is also the current Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assemblies of Nigeria. He was presented the draft constitution written by Voice of Reason (VOR) and the Yoruba position of restructuring.
  10. The Yoruba Ko’ya on December 28th 2018 visited the Ogun State House of Assembly in Abeokuta to pay a visit to the Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi to seek for his support for the restructuring of Nigeria. The team was led by leaders including Senator Tokunbo Ogunbanjo, Senator Femi Okunronmu, and the Convener, Otunba Deji Osibogun.
  11. To protest the spate of insecurity across the South-West states, Yoruba Koya declared Wednesday, June 12 2019 as National Day of Protest against the killings and kidnappings across Yoruba speaking states including Kogi and Kwara. The rally, tagged June 12 ‘Otoge’ rally, supported by a Yoruba Intelligentsia group, Voice of Reason (VOR) and 26 other socio-cultural Advocacy and self-determination groups held simultaneously in all Yoruba speaking state capitals of Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Lagos, Osun, Ogun, Kogi, and Kwara States respectively.
  12. Yoruba Ko’ya on January 9th 2020 visited Orin-Ekiti in ido/Osi Local Government of Ekiti State on solidarity over the consistent attacks on the farm lands in the community by some suspected herdsmen. The team, led by the Ekiti State coordinator of Yoruba Ko’ya, Mr. Femi Oluwajuyitan, donated security gadgets such as Head Lamp, Torch Light, Raincoat, Hand Gloves, Boots, Helmet, Whistle etc were donated to the members of Hunters and Vigilante Associations in the community to assist them.
  13. Amotekun Solidarity Walk was held on January 22nd 2020, simultaneously across Yoruba Land on the platform of Yoruba World Congress (YWC) in c to protest against the declaration of the central government of Nigeria that the south west security network, “Operation Amotekun” is illegal.
  14. Yoruba Ko’ya Leadership and Training Foundation held her maiden leadership lecture series on Thursday 12th November, 2020. The meeting was visual based, conducted via zoom. The foundation was able to reach to both past military and civilian governors in Nigeria.
  15. On the 14th of December 2020, the foundation, for the sake of strengthening its activities appointed ‘Akogun Kola Onadipe’ as the Secretary General of the Yoruba Ko’ya Leadership and Training Foundation, to fill the vacant position former held by Mr Maxwell Adeleye after his voluntary resignation. Similarly, ‘Chief (Mrs) Ronke Okusanya’ was appointed as the Vice President of the Foundation.
  1. On 18th December 2020, Yoruba Ko’ya conducted another lecture series for the past Senators of Nigeria. The meeting discussed the way forward on how to develop Yoruba lands, improve the livelihood of Yoruba tribe and uphold the safety of the race.
  2. As the year 2020 was gradually easing out, the Executive members of the Yoruba Ko’ya Leadership and Training Foundation had their monthly meeting via zoom. The meeting discussed the issues on how to further the smooth, developmental running of the foundation and by so doing discussed the Road Map for Year 2021.
  3. In a bid to achieve the aim and objectives of Yoruba Ko’ya Leadership and Training Foundation, the leadership (Otunba Deji Osibogun, Dr Lanre Babalola, and Alhaji Lekan Ajia) of the foundation made a visit to Ogun State on January 17th 2021 to accept RADEV MULTIPURPOSE that was generously donated to YKLTF by Chris Ogunbanjo Foundation. The hall will serve as a production and sensitization site for the benefit of the residents of Ogun state.
  4. Progressively, the foundation held another leadership lecture series on Jan 31st 2021, with past Honorable Speakers of respective Houses of Assembly in South West. This made it the third lecture series of the foundation in a role. The meeting which was a success had it major discourse focused on the wellbeing of the Yoruba citizens of the country alongside the structure of governance that can ensure that the Yoruba tribe is not left in jeopardy.
